AXTON STRONG

On September 30th, 2019 Axton’s life forever changed.  He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, T-Cell.  He was diagnosed with pneumonia a week prior to September 30th and started breathing funny so I took him in for another visit and our pediatrician had us get a chest x-ray and after that result came back, we knew there were major issues.  There was a mass above his heart and after spending 6 hours in the ER at Children’s Hospital and several tests later, an oncologist walked into our room to say the most dreadful words, your son has cancer.  He was immediately taken to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and spent the next 6 nights there. He then spent 21 days on the 6th floor of Children’s hospital for intense chemotherapy and treatment.  He was poked and prodded and had so many tests ran and procedures done it was hard to keep track of everything.  We just knew we had to fight, and we were going to do everything in our power to succeed.  I had to quit my job with no pay for a year and take him to the specialty infusion clinic anywhere from one to five times weekly.  As well as in-patient stays that lasted up to 5 nights.  Axton was unbelievably strong and courageous as a 2- year old.  He has endured so much and yet still wants to play and act like a 3- year old boy.  The strength that my son has is immeasurable. He has and he will continue to beat cancer!
