In 2021, Lia Olson was our Ambassador. Thanks to the lingering effects of COVID, we didn’t want to have a large gathering for our Summer Bash, and so we held the second annual Autumn Smash.

About the Wine Splash

With the support of Yves Menard, head chef and owner of Charlies on the Lake, and a small group of volunteers, MAYF embarked on their first ever Wine Splash. The Wine Splash was a wine pairing event held on August 1 at Charlies on the Lake. Guests were taught what to pair and what not to pair with a Chardonnay, a Cabernet, and a Zinfandel. They were also taught a little lesson on why wine tastes better in a crystal glass and why it should never be in a plastic cup. The favorite dishes of the night were a fun confetti salad, Hawaiian Tuna bites, and who can say no to a marshmallow dipped in chocolate fountain?

What else did you miss at the Wine Splash? The opportunity to take home some other great wines. Most guests bought at least one numbered cork from an enormous wine glass and won a bottle of wine.  Some guests took a risk and played a game of Ring Toss and the lucky ones walked away with a 750 ml bottle of The Prisoner or a 375 ml bottle of Meiomi Pinot Noir. An Auction was held for a six-course Prime Rib and Wine Pairing dinner for eight guests in the serene surroundings of Chuck and Connie’s Garden of Love.
